Most human soap products should not be used on animals. This is because they contain scents and other ingredients that can trigger serious dermatological conditions. Cats maintain a healthy balance between skin and hair with natural oils, and aggressive cleaning compounds can have an adverse effect by removing these.
Products developed for sensitive human skin types, including many baby soaps, could be used carefully and would not harm a cat. However, if you want to be completely confident it is advisable to use products developed specifically for cats which are available from pet stores.

My husband says that cats are very dirty animals, and he doesn’t like the fact that we have 3 in our house. They have no fleas, are spayed/neutered & have had all shots. He says they can contaminate other things in the house because of scratching in dirty litter and relaying it through the house. Is this a fact or not?
Thank you

That’s not true. Cats are very cleanly animals. They won’t contaminate anything. Brush them everyday or every other, especially if they are outdoor cats. Just check them over everyday to make sure they’re healthy. The litter box thing, cats tend to clean themselves so as long as they’re not licking your face or sticking your finger up they’re butt, you’re fine. Just wash your hands after you pet them.
