It is advisable not to react adversely when a cat has sprayed because that will just make matters worse. One of the best methods for dealing with a spraying cat is to redirect the cat’s need to mark the home territory in a different way or to a more appropriate place.
Tall scratching posts are extremely valuable in this situation, because when a cat ‘scratch marks’ it is marking its territory secure in the same way as during urine marking. By using the clicker system to reinforce the use of the scratching post, the cat’s need to urine mark can be significantly reduced.

Going against my will, have had to resort to putting my cat out at night. If I allowed her into another part of the home, would it help. Feliway is not available in Zimbabwe
