How do I know if my cat is contented?

September 3rd, 2008 · 3 Comments

There are a number of signs to look for. The following will tell you whether or not you have a happy cat:

  • At some times of day you will not know that you have a cat, because it is snoozing in a favorite cupboard or sunning itself in the window.
  • Your cat will use the litter tray or the garden at all times.
  • It will wander in and out of the home apparently without a care in the world.
  • Your happy cat will stroll around the home, brushing up against a leg and sitting happily on the top edge of the sofa back without needing to jump into your lap every five minutes.
  • It will eat regularly.
  • A contented cat is a joy to keep-but it takes all types of personalities to make the feline world go round.

I have 2 cats in my home. One of them latley feels the need to be in my lap alot. He is constantly cuddling me. Does this mean is is unhapy about somthing? He also Bullies the other cat. Somtimes it starts out as a game to him it seems but she is not happy about it howling and hissing. At other times he just walks up to her and bites out a huge chunk of hair. Is there somthing I can do?

Both my cats the minute I sit down climb into my lap or on top of me. Does this mean they are unhappy? Or because i cuddled them too much as kittens and its a learnt behaviour.

What does it mean when my cat goes into another room, carries a piece of clothing down the stairs in her mouth and then sits in front of it and cries for a few minutes.
