My cat had the same problem. It's really important you take your cat to the vet and ask that they check her for bronchitis. It took over 2 years before I found a vet who could tell me what was wrong with my cat. But now she is all better. Medicine and shots keep her happy and healthy. It could be bronchitis, cat asthma. A coughing cat can be a huge sign of feline asthma, often, terribly often, overlooked. My cat was 10 years old, coughing her whole life, when FINALLY a vet said, it's asthma, not hairballs.
